Aside from his weird-ass name, Gijs Vanhee also creates weird-ass art. This artist from the streets of Mechelen, Belgium calls his street paintings, “mutants.”
He calls them this because, as Vanhee explains, “They mutate through their existence and try to live out their maximum reach on any surface, any building, any city anywhere.”
He’s originally a graphic artist who produces incredible work in the country. His art definitely mutates and grows like an organism of art. Here are some of his outstanding street paintings posted in gijsvanhee.be
He also expounds this concept of mutants with his theory: “These mutations of monsters stand for an alternative evolution theory. Originally out of deep oceans, these creatures are slowly taking over abandoned houses, bridges, places.”
That’s a pretty amazing concept and inspiration for art if you ask me.
