What we don’t know is that not all of them came from the hood but some are quite knowledgeable and even studied in universities that are as popular as them.

Why crooks can’t fool ‘em
Lil’ Wayne known from his classic song, “How to love”, was a once a student in the University of Houston. He really liked going to school like a regular man but boy does he sweep off the charts and started gaining popularity. He switched to online courses in the University of Phoenix to finish what he had started. Good job, Lil’ Wayne!
Your Lover, Your Friend, Your Classmate
Everyone knows Ludacris. He makes amazing rap songs and collaborates with the best RnB singers in the industry. We love him and we are very happy that he is around. We may know his screen name but we sure don’t know a lot about him.
This rapper-slash-businessman-slash-Fast-6-actor hailed from Georgia State University pursuing what else but his passion. He studied Music Management and after that decided to co-found Disturbing Tha Peace Records with Chaka Zulu.
The true student
We go now to Talib Kweli. Talib Kweli managed to get his album out named “Prisoner of Conscious” last year. We all know that he can throw sick lines, but what you don’t know is his name shows a lot about him. Talib Kweli means true student or true seeker. Talib’s dad was a professor. Now you understand more about him, there is no chance he’ll bail on studying.
Talib attended NYU with a degree in experimental theater. So much for performing on stage huh? LOL.
Common or not-so-Common?
There are many action movies that Common star in. A character actor from our favorite movies like Wanted, Date Night, Happy Feet 2, etc to the urban scene in which he is also famous. Well, that is a clue of course. Common has a good taste and knows what to make himself of because he studied–that’s right–Business Administration. Although he was in school for just a brief moment, he continues to inspire and give talks to students to continue studying and striving harder.
Father of the North
Well, before all this buzz about him and Kim K. Kanye West was once a student at Chicago State University. He majored in English. And yeah, that is why he can make you believe and feel his rap songs except for that one where Kim was riding a motorcycle with him. Anyways, before all that, Kanye went to school. Although he didn’t finish it, let’s just give this guy credit, eh?
Brooklyn’s Puff Daddy
Sean John, Puff Daddy, and P. Diddy are the names we call him but this guy ain’t just a rapper: this guy was named one of the wealthiest rappers with a net of $550 million. He was once a schoolboy at Howard University. He may not have finished his studies but it is just because he was balancing his time on Uptown Records and his internship. Talk about working hard, we all know he knows it!
