Looking at it now, you wouldn’t think that practicality was the mother of this culinary invention. From being a little cake that you could quickly bake in a cup or a little cake that, with a recipe so simple (“one cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, and four eggs”), you could whip up in a jiffy, the cupcake has certainly emerged to be a fairy princess of sorts in the universe of baked goods.
“Are you ready yet?” I can imagine Mister Coffee impatiently asking.
“Just a minute,” Miss Cupcake would call out from her boudoir, “I’m still getting my nails done. Then they have to do my face.”
Of course, more often that not, little Miss Cupcake does take our breath away. Like these beautiful cupcakes that were recently featured on Bored Panda.
Somewhere over the rainbow, marshmallow frosting lies. This is fluff I wouldn’t mind having lots of!

This little cupcake’s definitely made with love—and to enjoy that little detail, you have to eat your cupcake with a little bit of love too!
Burger cupcakes are only good if they don’t taste like burger. But even if they do, aren’t they just absolutely cute? They’re perfect desserts for a family barbecue. Or, well, okay, a trip to the nearest burger joint.
Summer with a touch of whimsy, ladybug picnic fare! If you’re not into fluffy frosting, this cupcake’s for you. And it’s a chocolate cupcake too.
A cupcake that’s inside a cupcake on top of which is a cupcake! Mind blown.
